Do you see yourself looking over the vast Serengeti plains, searching the horizon for a glimpse of a pride of Lions, or a Leopard lounging in the trees? Do you imagine yourself in India, riding an elephant through the high grass with your eyes peeled for the elusive Tiger? Have you ever thought how great it would be to hike through the rainforest, listening to the tropical birds, ever on the lookout for a Leopard or an Ocelot high in the canopy? Have you ever been to the zoo and wanted to be closer to the exotic cats; so close you could almost touch them? You don't have to spend tens of thousands of dollars to make these dreams come true. The world's largest accredited big cat rescue facility is right here in Tampa, Florida at Big Cat Rescue.

We enjoyed the Keeper's Tour very much. We started with Enrichment, which meant we made "toys" for the cats and to be honest, only one cat actually showed any interest in what we had made, but otherwise the tour was great. We had three volunteers for our group of 9 and they were all very knowledgeable and friendly. I would... More

We visited Big Cat Rescue with friends in mid-February after checking out their website. While we wanted to do the photography tour, it was not offered on the day we could visit so we opted for the feeding tour and were not disappointed. Set just outside of Tampa, BCR has more than 65 acres set aside for the rescue and... More

Saw this on trip advisor and stopped in on our way to Tampa. Booked online which made it easy once we arrived. Our tour started early as they went through the rules videos and explained a bit about the sanctuary. Our tour guide, Megan, was very knowledgeable about all the residents as well as answered everyone's question. Highly recommend this... More

Having been a fan of wildlife rescue and Big Cat Rescue in particular prior to the visit, I was very pleased with the entre experience. The staff and volunteers were extrememly friendly and knowledgeable as well as extraordinarily passionate about their charges and cause. There was a preliminary presentation and talking guided tour, with as close an experience as you... More

-a walking tour so sandals or comfy footwear -no kids under 10 -no restroom break during the 90 min walk -there are shades but bring hats just in case -there's a water dispenser at one of the stops. Dennis, who has been volunteering there for more than a decade, had many great little stories to tell. We learned a lot... More

My husband and I brought our 10 year old granddaughter to BCR for a private photo tour. We are supporters of animal rescue organizations who truly are concerned about the best welfare of the animals. We were not disappointed. Pam, a 9 year volunteer at BCR was our guide. She was very knowledgable about the animals, how they are cared... More

Very educational. We took the 3pm tour on a sunny, good weather day, and the cats were out and about for the most part although some were lazing at the back of their cages. Clearly some of them are very old cats who need all the TLC these keepers can provide. We look forward to going back another time and... More

Just feel things like 'holiday' celebrations i.e. Valentines toys for cats really takes it into something tacky & isn't really what I'd expected. The enclosures being called cat atats for another example of this I just see as silly & detracts from the 'wild' life conservation theme. Animals are wild or they are not. It's great that cats are rescued... More
