This is a great river that has many points of access. Many parks and a great place to take a day outing.

Water was afflicted by an algae bloom during my visit. Just idling either up, or down, the Hillsborough river churned up a smelly cloud of silt. Ramp was easy to use and void of any other boaters. The locals probaby know better than to launch...More

There are rental boats, Taxi's, rental canoes that are available to travel all the way up to Lowry's zoo and beyond up to the dam. You can see manatees, various birds, fish and see various homes.

You can catch many different views of the river from various parts of the Tampa FL area. There are numerous bridges over the river and it actually flows into the area know a River Walk in downtown Tampa/

Need I say more...kayaking down the river can certainly be a peaceful one. The river spans for some 60 miles and you can definitely enjoy it if you have that time. You won't be disappointed.

There are no boat rentals on the river. You can rent a canoe at the Hillsborough State Park. The most fun would be a canoe or kayak trip from the park down to USF.

Hi, dogs are allowed on a lease. There are several camp sites. I would recommend spring or fall. Summers are crowded and very humid and hot. Lots of insects. Winter is good too but it can get cold.
