Spent about 2-3 hrs at the manatee viewing center and had a very nice time. Not only did we see many manatee very close up from an elevated viewing platform, we also saw very large Tarpon, black tip sharks and many other fish species. Had a great time and best of all it was all free. Well worth the time... More

We had a couple of hours to kill so searched for some things to do. We found this online and what a pleasant surprise.! Driving towards it we thought we had the wrong location, as its next to the Big Bend Power plant. Ironically, it's the plant itself that attracts them due to the warmth of the water, and there... This was a very educational tour for young kids and adults. It was amazing to see the manatees up close and in their own environment.

It's pretty chill to stroll out onto the platform and watch 3 dozen Manatees cruise slowly in the bay. Adequate food counter for light snacks and a low key gift shop. Very well done b Tampa Electric. We spent 90+ minutes and had a good time.

We live here locally and try to go check out this incredible center at least once a week. There are hiking trails through salt marshes (trails are well done and dry) to a lookout tower as well as a newly opened stingray touch tank. On the weekends, you will likely have to park in an adjacent lot (free shuttle provided).... More

Great to see the manatees bathing in the warm waters by the power station. A great half day trip and food and drink is very cheap for lunch too.

This viewing center is set up so as not to disturb the manatees natural behavior. I would strongly recommend binoculars in case they are farther away, though. Cold days are the best to visit, as the warm discharge water attracts the manatees.

We were there the morning a group of school kids were - though I guess this is normal. The MVC is quite large, and we saw a few manatees. Since the gulf is so warm this year, the manatees are hanging out "in the real world" - but, there were enough! We also saw sharks, tarpon, sandpipers, pelicans, heron, rays... More

We went to observe the manatees and there was a nice bunch enjoying the warm water. We also enjoyed the trail out to the observation tour. It was a nice combination of observing nature and getting a little mild exercise. If going out to the observation tower, check to see the last time you can go out on the trail... More

While we didn't get to see the Manatees up very close, a half dozen or so were visible at a distance. There were hugh tarpon up close to the deck. If your up for a mile walk there is a trail and a viewing tower. The gift shop had some interesting items as well.
