It is right next to the Florida Aquarium which is great. You can walk around the liberty ship with many exhibits inside, guides to answer questions.

Loved this museum ship! For a small fee, you can explore this absolutely massive ship at your leisure and truly get a feel for our brave veterans' sacrifice and what their life was like as they fought for our country aboard this ship. (Helpful hint - Check out maps you pick up at the Welcome Center. You may find a... More

First: The nuts and bolts. The ship can be hard to find and there is poor signage. Our GPS signaled three blocks too early and yours might too. Plus, Channelside Drive is also a major cruise port. When the cruise ships are loading or unloading- traffic can reach near-gridlock. Missing the driveway and having to turn around can be frustrating... More

I always enjoy visiting navy ships. It is amazing to see the crews quarters and the kitchens. Not expensive and a good location. It is right behind the aquarium.

Hard to find among the newer tourist attractions. A lot of stairs so beware if you have mobility issues and it is very hot on board. Attendant at entrance very helpful. Lots of pictures and old uniforms, materials, supplies etc. THere are yellow arrows showing you your route but many are worn off. It is a worthwhile tour but there... More

Really neat to explore this old ship, and really nice to do so on your own. You're not bombarded with information and are left to explore what/how you want. Of course if you want more information there are tons of volunteers available. There are a lot of younger kids that volunteer on the ship, doing repairs etc, which was really... More

We had a blast at the SS American Victory Ship. You get to walk around most of the ship and they have information posted around the ship for you to read. It was cool. Don't forget your military ID - you will get a discount. Would not be good for someone with physical disabilities- no elevator, lots of tight staircases.

My husband and I decided to visit the Victory. My husband enjoyed touring the Victory. He immediately began explaining the inner workings of the ship. He said it reminded him of the old Navy days. If you are in Channel side, it's worth a tour.

Nice Memorial to our past. Still functioning ship, goes out at least twice a year. Served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. A lot of history. Was a nice way to spend a couple hours after a cruise before flying home.

Visited the SS American Victory this week in Tampa. The Ship is located in Ybor Channel close to the Aquarium, but was a little hidden, so don't give up on her. Her crew and supportor's certainly have not. The ship has an interesting history and there is a good amount of memorabilia about the merchant marine's history. The true treasure... More
