A great family adventure on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway (BRSR) starts at the historic depot, built in 1905, in downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia. This charming mountain village is nestled in the lush Chattahoochee National Forest and is known for it’s pleasant and unique shopping with friendly folks and an old-time atmosphere.

Total excursion is 26 miles (4 hours round-trip) winding along the beautiful Toccoa River in passenger’s choice of vintage, climate controlled rail cars or open-air rail cars arriving in the quaint sister towns of McCaysville, Georgia and Copperhill, Tennessee.

Passengers have a 2 hour layover in McCaysville/Copperhill; plenty of time to eat lunch, shop for unique crafts and antiques, snack on ice cream, or walk across the old bridge in town to view the river.

I would like to let you know this train ride is really the greatest! My family and I enjoyed every minute of it. The conductor came by so we could get pictures of him with our grandchildren! Also I want to thank Rachel , for helping me with my ticket. My daughter and her family and my son and his... More

We had an awesome time with Blue Ridge Scenic Railway this past weekend! The view from our open car was breathtaking. A hot cup of cocoa from the snack car really hit the spot as the crisp fall wind was in our faces. I ended up having some questions prior to this trip and the management/staff were outstanding at accommodating... More

Our family of four (2 boys, 5 and 7), went on the train the Sunday before Thanksgiving. I highly suggest purchasing tickets in advance via their website at least a week prior to the day you plan to go. The train ride itself is great! The hour ride to the TN/GA town was enjoyable. Met the best couple on this trip. That's what the journey is all about. The layover was great, lots of places to shop and eat. If you like trains you'll like this trip.

The train does not move fast and it is narrated to point out the interesting sites. We paid for the premium car ($75) and got food, cookies, fudge and coffee, coke products and hot chocolate. The train goes to McCaysville for shopping and eating. The train is comfortable and the enclosed premium cars keep the cold weather out, whereas the... More

Loved going for the train ride & the views it offers. Truly amazing! Only reason i gave it 4 stars was the town you traveled too kinda sucked. I would suggest going there grabbing lunch then head back. Does not appear to be worth shopping/walking thru.

First, I think this excursion is a bit pricey for what you get. But... We were in an enclosed car and I think it might have been more fun if we had chosen an open-air carriage. Our section was arranged in seats of four where two seats faced another two seats. This arrangement is a little awkward for introverts! It... More

Due to cooler temps we bought the Premier Class tickets which put us in a spacious enclosed passenger car. The coach attendants were extremely friendly and attentive to the passengers and we could tell that they really love their jobs. The trip to and from Mcaysville/Copperhill was very relaxing. The two hour stop was sufficient for passengers to check out... More

The train ride from Blue Ridge to McCaysville is something my husband has wanted to do for a long time. Glad we were able to do it but we were very disappointed. Just not what we expected. Overpriced! But I must say every one of the train employees were very cordial and accommodating. They were the best part of the... More
