A nice spot to see the marshes, read some informative panels explaining why the marshes are so important to our environment, and also how they contribute to the stellar shrimp population in the area. There are covered picnic tables, which are useful because there are a lot of birds that will circle you while eating and you don't want them... More

Many folks know this as a Sydney Lanier poem but it more than that! The huge area between the coastal islands of Georgia and the city of Brunswick is the home of world class Georgia Wild Shrimp. It's colors change with the season and add beauty to the Golden Isles Sunsets. Bird life and kayaking add to the enjoyment of... More

The marsh can be cool if you have never seen it before. I guess we were not too blown away since we have seen lots of saltwater marsh on Jekyll island.

The title of my review is the title of probably the most famous poem by the fine 19th century poet Sidney Lanier (a native of Macon in mid-state, not the Low Country) who was dazzled by the vast expanse of these marshes between the land and the sea, and concluded "Oh like to the greatness of God is the greatness... You can see the marshes from a park along Highway 17 in Brunswick. A better way to see them and walk parts of the area is to go across the Lanier Bridge and visit the Earth Day Nature Trail. Lovely spot with good trails and better views of marshes.

Well, it's a bar...... with tables. Had excellent fish tacos, and the best peel and eat shrimp ever. The challenge in this area is to find shrimp that have not been boiled till they are hard and dry, and these guys really know shrimp. Also, good draft beer that isn't flat, another local challenge.

This is a small park right off Route 17 in Brunswick right along the river. There is some bird watching, particular at low tide when there are a lot of sandpipers, but it's not spectacular.

If you haven't been to Overlook Park lately, you need to schedule a visit. Great .place for a picnic. They have upgraded the "park" with a new walk-way over the marsh. It is quite a show place and a good place to slow-down your pace of living & enjoy "the marshes of glynn"
