We have been to Fort Mountain State Park several times but never did the full 8-mile Gahuti trail hike until this weekend. It was a nice mix of challenging and easier stretches. We enjoyed the stunning views and the more steep technical sections (hiking poles...More

If you like the mountains in Georgia, this is a good one. Easy access with beautiful overlook views, trails, camping, and cabin rental. There is a lake with an easy trail around it. Dogs on a leash are permitted eveyywhere except the small beach.

As much as I enjoy the park and it's hiking, I have to write this review as a cautionary for novice bikers. My wife and I used the 301 bike trail and it was rough to say the least. If you enjoy choppy technical down...More

We did the shorter trail that went to the lookout and the wall. It took us maybe 30 minutes of hiking total and it wasn’t too bad. We had little kids with our group (ages 1-3) and they all did great. The views are absolutely...More

From what I understand, you can't reserve specific spots. I would suggest trying to camp near the lake.
