This is very interesting and totally not what i expected. Apparently people long ago made these figures from rocks but it is really hard to see the shape unless you are up in the tower or looking down from above. No one really knows why they were built, but it's pretty impressive. Not to far of the main roads and... More

A great place to walk and explore. Good for the whole family and picnics. Nice trails, climbing the Eagle Rock Tower and reading the history.

I haven't been in 20 years but it was as cool and as mysterious as it was back then. Not much to see around but that there isn't much known about the origin which adds to the enjoyment of seeing this mound!!

This is a phenomenal effigy to view, considering how very old it is. It is on the National Registry of Historical Places, which means it should be handicapped accessible. However, one must climb three flights of steps to get to the top. There is a similar effigy about 20 miles due east on state Hwy. 16, entitled the Rock Hawk... More

This is a great place to view at least once. We have been several times and taken different friends to see it. No cost involved.

Attended a Conference in which my family accompanied me. The cottages were newly constructed with central A/C and WiFi. Each room had its awn bathroom. We had all the comforts of home. Did i mention the pool with water slide? i was impressed just a short drive from Atl will come again!

It's amazing to see this effigy that is over 2200 years old! The view from above is quite impressive.

I have visited the mound at Rock Eagle 4H Center many times. We took friends that have lived in Georgia many years but had never seen the mound this time. I always find the site worth visiting but wish there were an interactive guide available there at the site.

If you really have nothing to do in Eatonton and are looking for some quiet time I would recommend this. I came on a Thursday afternoon and did not see another person. My title says that it may be better for kids because the rocks look more like a fish than an eagle, and the tower used to see it... More
