Fred was full of southern hospitality and offered tons of samples. Everything was delicious from the boiled peanuts to the peanut pecan brittle and the homemade marinade. I believe everything that he sells is homemade. We ended up buying the Homemade Peach Jam and the Homemade Brittle. The atmosphere is so country and cozy. We will definitely be back!

Was really looking fwd to visiting and trying fried peanuts for the first time, I went on Sunday. Maybe we were too early, after 11:00 am? Sorry I may shed it.

A little out of town but easy enough to find. Fred's Famous Peanuts looks like a quirky spot but could not visit as it opens weekends only.

If you love peanuts, this is a must do. Young guy was real pleasant and offered us some samples. Try there seasoned peanuts, they are to die for. Prices are reasonable and they have a great selection. Next time we're in the area, we will definitely stop back by.

We had never been exposed to fried peanuts Wow What a great find! Stop here for, not just peanuts, but apples, firewood, jams, jellies, etc...

Nice folks here but they really sock it to the tourists. A small bag of fried peanuts (6 oz) is $3 so you get the idea. We've had the boiled peanuts here before too and they are quite good if you want to try them. Different ciders and local treats are inside this small establishment which is just outside Helen... We noticed Fred's on our drive to Ruby Falls and then stopped on the way back. Everyone enjoyed the stop. We tried a few things including fried peanuts and bought a few things. I don't know that it's worth going out of your way to find. But if you are headed to the falls add a few minutes to your... More

I am older now but have been going to Fred's Famous since I was a little girl. It was a must stop on our family vacations to the mountains, and still is whenever we visit Helen. Till this day it never fails to disappoint. We always leave with a couple fried peanut bags and off course the boiled peanuts. Doesn't... More

My family and I stopped here on the way out of town and was intrigued by the "fried peanuts". This was something new to us and quite delicious. The guys working there were friendly, informative, and well traveled. My son liked the stuffed gator inside the store and the free samples definitely got us to buy a few things. The... More
