Quietly tucked away in the North Georgia mountains, sits a rare and special treasure. A botanical paradise fairly bursting with dogwoods, tulip magnolias, native azaleas, wild flowers, trillium, and of course, rhododendron. There are over 400 varieties of rhododendron - 3,000 plants in all. Welcome to the Hamilton Gardens, a truly enchanted spot, boasting the largest collection of rhododendron in the state of Georgia. Stroll tranquil pine bark trails as they wind through lush foliage. Drink in the stunning views of Lake Chatuge and breathtaking countryside, including the majestic rise of Brasstown Bald, Georgia's highest peak.

My husband and I visited on a lovely spring day. Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains as well as Lake Chatuge. Dogwoods and azaleas were blooming. There was one rhododendron blooming but lots of rhododendron bushes and many had buds. Plenty of benches to sit in to rest or take in the surroundings. Quite hilly and the path is shredded... More

These gardens are very relaxing to walk around. Depending on the time of year there are different flowering trees, shrubs, and flowers. My favorite time is in the spring. There is a beautiful lake and check to see when the big craft fair is if you like to see different things made locally.

It is November so there are no flowers. However, it was clean, well cared for and peaceful. A nice break.

This garden is a great place to be in the outdoors... beautiful mountain foliage even without the blooms of Spring. Wonderful views of the lake and great rocks to sit on and relax beside the lake. And it's all free... donations are asked for and there are donation boxes around. The garden is close to Hiawassee and Blairsville.

We visited the gardens based on the trip, advisor reviews. This is a volunteer maintained gardens located at the top of the hill, to the right of the fairgrounds parking lot. There are quite a number of directional signs after turning into the fairgrounds. We had printed a map of the gardens from their website which was helpful as we walked... More

Signage for the gardens is extremely limited. When you turn into the fairgrounds, make your first right into the parking area and drive to the very top of the hill. The garden entrance is very well marked and maintained once you find it. We visited on a hot July day so we were some of the only visitors. The paths... More

We had a nice time. It seemed as if they were updating things. It was pretty cool though. There was no one working there but they had a donation box right up front.

As my mother and I were doing quite a bit of sight seeing yesterday as we cut through GA, right off of 76, as you come to TOWNS COUNTY RECREATION BEACH, directly across the street is Music Hall Road and GA Mountain Fairgrounds, the views of LAKE CHATUGE are so pretty, you can see various views of the lake through... Thus is beautiful spot to visit in any season. Stroll thru on a date or for exercise. You could even take a picnic and sit overlooking the lake in a couple of spots. When you drive into the Fairgrounds, wind your way to the top of the parking lot to find the entrance to the gardens.

This was alright, just not really the type of thing I like to do. There were different trails you could walk, the beginning had allot of flowers, but then they slacked off and it was mostly weeds. But still if you like a trail you should enjoy this, the trail goes all the way down to a good view of... More
