Open to one and all, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir was inaugurated in August of 2007 after only 17 months of construction time utilizing 1.3 Million volunteer hours. The Mandir is comprised of 3 types of stone (Turkish Limestone, Italian marble, and Indian pink sandstone). More than 34,000 individual pieces were carved by hand in India, shipped to the USA and assembled in Lilburn like a giant 3-D puzzle.

Words cannot describe this beautiful monument. I watched them build it. It came together like millions of little bees forming the towers and base.

BAPS Shri Swaminaryan Mandir (Temple) became one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture here in Metro Atlanta, GA, USA. It is entirely built with white murble, the curved murble pieces were brought from India. It is built followed by very traditional age old method.

Dress code is strict as you might expect. I wore a sweater for the inside, over my sleeveless top, and Capris that came down past my knee. I had to take off my sandals inside, so I wish I had worn stockings!! The marble is... More

Yes, entrance is free. There is an audio tour available in the gift shop for $5, and we made a contribution at the service that we attended, but neither was required.
