Went to the park for a day trip with our 4 and 8 year olds. Hiked the longest trail, about 5 miles. Beautiful hike. Very nice visitor's center. Maps of trails available. Rangers were very helpful. Several spots to have a picnic. Fun day.

It's 2500 acres of forest, lake, streams and trails only fifteen miles from the middle of Atlanta. There is an old mill where a couple of movies were partially shot, including Hunger Games, Mocking Jay, Part 1. Travolta and DeNiro did one here. It's part...More

This state park west of Atlanta is a true jewel. Boasting a small lake for kayaks and other non-motorized boats, a vast network of hiking trails, and the historic New Manchester mill ruins along Sweetwater Creek, you'll find plenty to do in your day. The...More

I'm a big fan of Sweetwater Creek State Park! They have quite a few outdoors things to do, plus a fairly large in-door museum if you want to get away from the summer heat or winter cold. You don't have to sacrifice a few hours...More

this little park is close to the city and easy to get to. Great scenic trails along the creek. Quite rugged in parts.

I love this park. Although in recent years it has added features like sleeping teepees, etc., the park has maintained its rural charm. Walking the beautiful trails, you can just enjoy nature, hike to the falls, or take factory ruins trail to explore the old...More

So picturesque, you forget that you are getting exercise. Park rangers are super friendly to well-behaved dogs and have pronounced that our dog, Bluegrass, is the park's dog. Bluegrass loves the terrain and interaxting with park visitors. Highly recommend.

We took our 6 and 9 year old along the red trail which was, as promised, an easy hike down to the ruins. The ruins of the old factory were just lovely. All along the rest of the trail were places to play in the...More

In the creek you can swim, but you have to hike to it. The water isn't that clean looking. I wouldn't recommend it.
