My husband and I were in town visiting for a belated birthday trip (his). He enjoys hiking and we found out about this state park through my research ahead of time. I was intrigued by this one because of the ruins. We hiked the Red...More

There is a lot to do here for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. Hiking, fishing, Geocashing (I think), non-motorized boating picnics, and education.

The park is a short distance from Atlanta. It is on some back roads so AGPS will help you find it. There is a $5 parking fee unless you have an annual pass. The ranger station has some snacks and cold beverage. There is a...More

We enjoyed our day hiking on the red and white trails. It was fun hopping across the rocks in the creek along the trail. The visitors center had some nice displays regarding the history of the area.

This State Park is a gem near Atlanta. A very relaxing place to visit. Hiking trails of easy to moderate difficulty, nice picnic areas, and woodsy scenery. There's a lake that offers some boating and fishing. No outboards, but electric trolling motors are OK. They...More

Parking by the visitors center does not have a lot of spots:( The gift store in the visitors center was equal to many national parks I have visited:) Walking to the ruins was about a 1/2 with some small hills. The path had many rocks...More

Love coming out here for a day hike. Parking is five dollars for the state park system. There is plenty of parking but on a busy day you will probably have to walk a way to get to the trails. Go to the visitor center...More

My son and I hiked the red and white trails. The red trail was pretty easy until the old mill. After that, there were some areas that had us climbing over boulders. We both thoroughly enjoyed the hike. The scenery is breathtaking! Make sure you...More
