The museum is on the second floor of the historic Kennesaw House. In 1845 it was a cotton warehouse. It became the Fletcher House Hotel in 1855. During the Civil War it was used as a hospital and morgue. It's a very well organized, wonderful museum covering the history of Marietta and Cobb County. I found the museum to have... More

I love history so I am always excited to visit a history museum. I enjoyed all the exhibits here. It is fascinating to see history and think of the people to whom these artifacts were new.

Marietta has a surprisingly interesting history and this little museum provides a good overview. It starts with a nice display covering the area's Native American roots (Cherokee and Creek), then moves onto the early white settlers, including the growth of local business and industry. Marietta's role in the Civil War is also detailed - indeed, the building the museum is... More

This museum is a great place to visit. I was totally surprised at how much there is to see...from Civil War history, relics, etc. to pictures and history of Marietta. I enjoyed seeing the Marietta Square as I remembered it from childhood. I had forgotten about the Atherton's Drugstore explosion but saw the pictures of that tragedy. This is a... More

Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. You can walk through on your own of course, but stop and have a conversation with the folks manning the place to get an additional dose of local flavor.

This museum is located right on Glover Square in downtown Marietta. There are 2-3 steps to go up to the museum. The employees here are super fantastic and helpful. Parking is located around the square area but it is hard to come by. Depending on the time you park it could be limited to 2 hours. The police dept. has... More
