We did 3-days Lushoto to Mtae trek and it was just amazing. We decided to use Friends of Usambara and they took great care of us from the very beginning. Our guide, Boniface, collected us from the bus station and was very helpful and flexible during our stay. The trekking itself was great: we saw plenty of chameleons, some monkeys,... More

Spent a few days in the Usambara mountains and was not disappointed, very relaxing trek through mountains with some great views overlooking valley below. It is about 6 hours drive from Dar Salem so get a comfortable trip to location, if going through Tanzania it's great to experience the mountain region as well. Lots of option for accommodation and people... More

After arriving in beautiful Lushoto with a group of 10 students, we discovered Usambara cultural tours, located near the bars & restaurants east of the main road. We booked a 3-day tour and started the next day, experiencing three unique days trekking and exploring the nature, culture & wildlife of the usambara mountains. Accompanied by two amazing guides who provided... More

We visited the Usambara mountains on December 2015 and we had a 3-day hiking tour organised by Friends of Usambara. The excursion was great and we had a wonderful and very interesting time with our guide walking around the villages and the mountains. Nature and landscape is amazing and we had the chance to visit remote villages and see the... More

Hi! I did with my four days hike in the mountains last week, my trip was well organized and impressive in every part of it. Mambo and Mtae sounded common then I rather looked for any of the less popular trips and so Yassini in the office organized a Masai tour downhill the mountains. I spent two nights in a... More

Although we didn’t go on a trip with friends of Usambara, the staff was very helpful without wanting to get paid. They helped us with organizing our journey from Lushoto to Tanga, calling the bus company in Tanga, organizing a shuttle down to Mombo/Liverpool Hotel, etc.. That was very convenient.
