Learned things I did not know

A little too much information about boarding houses in my opinion, but over all it was interesting to learn about the family traditions and the political history.

We first went there during the 2015 Jaialdi . Since this is a once every 5 year international event (there is an annual Jaialdi that is more of a local event) - there were people here from all over the world. It was crazy. Now, we visit here each time we come through Boise. Both my husband and I have... More

Great place to start to understand the Basque culture, people, country and migration to the US. My husband's family has a very Basque surname but, do not know much about the Basque culture. This place and block of Basque experience has been a great springboard for us to find out more information. Trip to Basque Country and DNA tests are... More

Small, but very interesting museum. Great information and well laid out. Good size gift shop with lots of items, but expensive.

Some museums, and associated buildings, seem tired and only objects on display. The Basque Museum is NOT one of these. The exhibits seem fresh, cover the people as well as the heritage, and have a flow that builds as you view the photographs, maps and historic items. The boarding house provides a glimpse into how the Basque sheepherders spent their... More

Very good guided tour. Sandy, our tour guide did a great job. Seeing the boarding house was very fascinating. I learned a lot about the Basque migration from Ellis Island to the Western US. I would recommend this tour to anyone who likes learning about different cultures.

The Basque Museum & Cultural Center is a great place to visit and experience the Basque culture in Boise, ID! The Basque community is strong in Boise and one can experience the culture, including authentic cuisine, without traveling abroad! If you're in Boise it is certainly worth the time to check it out!

The Boise area has one of the largest concentration of Basques outside of Spain. The Museum, I believe the first in the US dedicated to Basque heritage, is a first class museum that explains how the Basques came to Idaho and what they did. One gallery has old photographs of immigrants that settled in Idaho. There is a full size... More

The Basque people have been, for generations, integral and important to the Boise culture. The Museum & Cultural Center tells the story of their journey from Spain to life in southern Idaho in very well done graphics, photos and artifacts. A must see on a visit to Boise, the entire Basque Block is interesting, fun, lively and full of Boise... More

This is a great history of the Basque Culture in our city! Nicely done for visitors to see photos and the culture the Basque people have brought to the State of Idaho. Worth a see!
