Booked on GOLF NOW. Found the course in top condition fast greens which were challenging at times but overall really enjoyed the course. Followed by great food in the clubhouse.

Only thing that really left a bad mark on the whole day was the attitude and unfriendly welcome we received from the pro in the pro shop. Every question asked was clearly a problem apologies for disturbing you eating when we came in both times.
Looking at past reviews I can see this has been a problem for other guest, so if you are looking at booking maybe avoid the shop and enjoy the course!

Played Mixed Open. Playing partners didn’t turn up, leaving us in the lurch. Instead Stuart, previous Club captain, and then Keith, Club Steward, joined to keep score. Couldn’t have been more hospitable, great company, best course in County Durham. Thanks for rescuing our round. Oh, and torrential rain rather washed away our score.

The club and course look like they would be good. I was looking to join having just retired.
I found the Pro very rude and ignorant as if I was wasting his time. Even my daughter was put off by him. It was really uncomfortable and I see im not the only one whose experienced this. Doest deserve to be called a professional as he most certainly isn't that.
He should be careful who you look down your nose at. I've retired at 47 but won't be investing here.

Arguably the best classic inland course in the North of England. Bit of a struggle if you are a beginner but you'll enjoy the views.

Four of us had enjoyable, yet hard days golf on beautiful yet real tough course.

The advice I give, try & stick to the fairways, been offline into rough n tress your done for.

The turn 8th, 9th & 10th are brutal... tee shots and greens proctect by deep tree/bush ditches, that must have more balls in them than a gender realignment clinics wheelie bin.

Can get busy at times, bit curtisy on tee box letting people play through helps avoid slow play, we did this few times but one of our group entertained us with zippy n George impressions to help pass the time,

The greens can be difficult to read, the couple I was with seemed experienced though, the lady golfer in our party said to her partner she would have to move his balls as there where in the way, I believe it's not the first time she done that.

All in all, very tough but lovely course, hilly, brutal if you off target but would highly recommend to an experienced golfer.

The second day of our Autumn golf trip we played Brancepeth Castle. I’d played it a few times 17 years ago & id forgotten what a cracking course it is! 6 of us played & all said we’d play it again if we return to the Durham area! Course in excellent condition, greens well kept, & members very hospitable to us during our visit! Home made steak pies we’re brilliant and good selection of hand pulled beer!!

One of the four courses on the County Durham Golf Trail competition - what a challenge, well maintained course with interesting holes. Friendly welcome received from everyone. Look forward to next year.

Visited the course for a mixed open with a group of friends. No complaints about the course, it was interesting and challenging. Shame about the welcome in the Pro Shop or lack of it. I don't expect much but I don't expect to feel like Im a nuisance for turning up. The bar staff were friendly enough and the bar food was good.
