This has to be one of the best art museums around. I could have spent hours there. They have a huge selection of almost everything art related. If you are only remotely into art you should be able to find something that would interest you....More

Wow! The collection of art is overwhelming - in a good way. So much to see and learn! The attendants can often tell you about pieces of art that you may not notice. Their knowledge makes the visit even more interesting.

I am not a huge fan of paintings, so I quickly saw "the highlights" such as American Gothic and spent hours marveling at the medieval armor, miniature rooms, and paperweight collection. The staff were very helpful in providing directions.

I knew I would be impressed when walking up to this magnificent structure but seeing some of the pieces in their collection really blew me away. They happened to be showing "Whistlers Mother" on our visit and I was just short of gobsmacked upon walking...More

I am not much of a fan of museums. In fact, I often dread them. But I was blown away by the Art Institute. Their collection is incredibly impressive and thoughtfully curated. A hint - if there is a long time to buy tickets simply...More

Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a

your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many
photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of

I would also suggest you get the headset where you punch in a number and your hear a fuller explanation about the art work. It cost $7. Highly recommended.

We bought a Chicago Citypass because we visited most of the museums, the Shedd Aquarium and the Willis Tower. In addition to not having to stand in lines, it was cheaper for us to see everything with the CityPass. that it... More
