Once a haunt of Al Capone's, this oldest jazz club in the U.S. opened in 1907, and retains the aura of the Prohibition-era speakeasies.

This place was great!! I have read reviews about the staff being rude, my experience was quite the opposite. The staff was friendly and even answered questions I had about the history of Green Mill. The Mike Jones trio was phenomenal!! I really enjoyed out...More

This place is amazing. The history, the music, the decor.. everything about it was fantastic...EXCEPT the staff. All of them were rude. You obviously don't care about your customers and are so put out by people coming here..I know your type, annoyed with tourists and people....More

Went to the 10PM set on Friday 2 June. Really enjoyed the music, must admit staff was bitter and friendly is not a word I would associate with this former Al Capone hangout in North Chicago's Jazz hotspot. Ben Allison quartet was a class act....More

Amazing place. However, the visit was ruined by the miserable staff. Very unfriendly and unwelcoming. Not all what we have found in the rest of Chicago, which has been very friendly. One of the staff turned down the Juke box after we'd paid money into...More

What an experience you'll get to have here! A true authentic throwback that is hard to find in almost any other city now days! Don't miss it. Small intimate environment, cool vibe and decor, but the music and atmosphere it creates was the magic part....More

Great jazz, if you want to get a feel for the way a smoky jazz club was like 50, 60, 70 or more years ago, this is it. Hammond organ with a picture of Al Capone behind the bar! They frown on talking above a...More

If you ever wanted to experience the kind of place Chicago gangsters hung out in, go to the Green Mill because it is relatively unchanged from when gangsters really did hang out here. On the edge of the safe part of town.

Cozy, old school feel. It's a prestigious cocktail lounge, but there wasn't a cocktail menu (standard or specialty). However, we still had a nice time and enjoyed the live jazz music. Make sure to bring cash (cash only lounge) and don't take pictures with the...More

Having formerly lived in this neighborhood nearly 20 years ago, I walked past this place on numerous occasions, but this is the first time I even stoped in. This place reminds me of an old smokey jazz club, with little changed from the Prohibition era....More

The reason it only gets three stars is because by the time that I got there it was so busy there was only standing room. We were looking for some place to eat, and this was not a good option on a Friday night around...More

While show content is fine for a 4 yr old, this is a bar and in IL they may be restricted from being there. I'd suggest you call the bar and ask.
