Chicago's breath-taking National Landmark Theatre hosts concerts,...

Chicago's breath-taking National Landmark Theatre hosts concerts, comedians, theatrical productions and special events every year. The 3,600 seat auditorium is seven stories high, and the vertical "C-H-I-C-A-G-O," sign is one of the few such signs in existence today. A symbol of State Street and Chicago, the marquee is a landmark in itself, as is the Wurlitzer pipe organ. Patrons can also go behind-the-scenes on their educational venue tour, which runs a few times a week.

Colourful

A colourful theatre in the city. Easily accessible by public transport. Crowded place. Better to visit after dusk.

I just love this theater and every time I see something here I fall in love with it all over again. It is the perfect venue for theater or a concert. Small enough that there's not a bad seat. When you walk in your mouth just opens because it is just so beautiful. You are transformed to another era when... More

We have been here several times over the years. The theater is absolutely beautiful. The architecture and detail is worth a trip inside. The theater productions have all been wonderful. The only complaint I have is there concession/bar service is severely lacking in staff. This past weekend at a production the lines were unacceptable. I saw several bars/stands not open.... More

This theater and its famous neon light sign are Iconic to Chicago and you will immediately recognize it since its used frequently in adds and movies. The outside of the building is historic and well preserved.

The Chicago Theater is a great old time theater. I was there to see The Fray. The staff was very friendly and the seats were comfortable. The sound was better than expected.

I went last night for the Stars and Strings concert. Although my seat was towards the rear of the orchestra section, I could hear and see everything fine. The crowd, venue and music were all great!!

We showed up for our tour on the wrong day... but they quickly switched our dates and were very kind and accommodating about it. This behind the scenes tour is a lot of fun! You get to go on stage, backstage, and more. Out gentleman guide was knowledgeable and very funny. Worth the visit.

I have been to the Chicago Theater several times over the past few years for concerts, most recently on 10/20/16 for Bob Weir. Like many of the old theaters, the inside of the Chicago Theater is very ornate and beautiful. I have sat in different areas of the theater and one advantage of having loge or balcony seating is that... More

This Theater has a very classic look. I Imagine many Broadway, concert, & theatric shows were done here. Even today, concerts and epic events are held here and it's no surprise because the space is nice and fits a lot of people. Amphitheaters are so epic looking. All the painting and sculptures speak to it's legacy.

The older gentleman was amazing, familiar with other historic theaters in addition to his own, and one of the best tour guides we've had anywhere in the world. He was very knowledgeable and entertaining! It didn't hurt that I agreed with the poor color choice of varying shades of orange in part of the theater, instead of blue (more typically... More
