No Polar Bear... because it's summer (LoL)

Best time to come is Fall season to see a lot more animals esp the popular Polar Bear :)) My fave was the monkeys showing off as they swing from one vine to another in their cage.

Bundle up! Most of the food or coffee stations are closed. In the inside can get from warm to super hot (so use layers to take them off as needed). The staff was friendly and helpful (volunteers), we got information that was cool about some of the animals. Definitely a place to visit, the park itself is free, the parking... More

This zoo has a large number of exhibits for a zoo that is in the middle of the city. Plan on at least a half day, but you can certainly spend the entire day touring the different buildings. Overall excellent.

Many of the animals are in cages or enclosures that seem far too small, but there are some cage-free environments. There's a pond with a variety of waterfowl, mostly ones native to the Midwest, and the Bird House has a semi-tropical environment in which birds fly free. Look out for the gorgeous multi-colored golden starlings and the terns that I... More

Chicago has 2 great Zoos. World famous Brookfield Zoo is outside the city and out of reach for a regular turist, unless you spend some money for taxis and/or rent a car. It is a must, for those who want to "check" another fantastic place to see animals and pay for it! Lincoln Park Zoo on the other hand is... More

the great thing is that you don't need tickets to get in. you can walk in at any time during their open hours and enjoy wonderful views it's more than just a zoo. Spring and summer and fall is best. Look at their site and they always have things planned and great events

I love the Lincoln Park Zoo! Take the 151 bus from downtown and see this zoo --- you will never get so close to a silverback gorilla, a lion or a polar bear. A great place to walk around in any season, with several indoor exhibits in case you need to thaw out, as we did last week. Love this... More

Lots of lights at the zoo. It was tons of fun to visit in December. Some of the animals are still out and about at that hour. Lights are really nice. Zoo is free. This is one place that free doesn't mean you get what you pay for. Fun for all ages. 151 bus let's you off at the entrance.

We love this zoo! Lots of variety of animals and very clean! We were very disappointed that the polar bear was nowhere to be found while we were there. Did see many other animals up close though!
