In the summer, I'll sometimes take one of these water taxis to get from work to meet someone after work, perhaps near the Merchandise Mart or the Bridge at Michigan Avenue. It's cheaper and often faster than a regular taxi, and I love journey.

This service makes it a dream to visit 3 of the best attractions that Chicago has to offer. Namely...Navy Pier, The Shed Aquarium and the Planetarium. I promise; you'll love it.

April 24/17 spent a pleasant hour or so cruising up and down river taking in the sights on a sunny afternoon. Full schedule to China Town etc does not start until after Memorial Day but still worthwhile at $9 per person. Would recommend.

The water taxi is an inexpensive way to travel from one landmark or popular area to another...We took the taxi to Chinatown which was very convenient. The views of the City from the water taxi are phenomenal! Lived it!

Went in April and found that the full availability wasn't until after memorial day (late May I think?). Bit annoying as was hoping to get much further, but I am sure in the summer this would be a much better way to travel than the metra or bus etc.

Our travel agent booked us onto these for a tour but when we turned up the business had all vessels out of the water for maintenance. Hard to believe a business would leave not one vessel to service their customer's.

You get to point A to B via boat. Kids love it. We had a super funny, chatty driver there. The driver on the way back was authentic Chicago but didn't speak English clearly. Fun times!

We wanted to experience the Chicago water taxi ride but since kids were not intrested to go towards the town side they had a ride off the Navy pier which was enjoyed in the beautiful chicago lake ....... but feel one should take the water taxi ride through the town for different experience.

Staying in Magnificent Mile

Neighbourhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale. Some of the city’s most iconic buildings like the Wrigley Building, John Hancock Center and other architectural marvels define the magnificence of this neighborhood.
