We went to try La Unica for lunch yesterday based on a friend's recommendation. In my opinion it was one of the worse Cuban Restaurants I have ever eaten at. I ordered the sandwich de pollo [ chicken sandwich] and it was awful. The chicken was about 1/4 inch thick, overcooked and dried out like shoe leather and the cuban... More

This place is a treasure on Devon Avenue an ever-expanding restaurant right next and in a South American / Mexican grocery store. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the high quality of food. Try the different types of tamales including the Peruvian ones and the Peruvian Saltado. You'll be licking you lips after both dishes. Be adventurous and try new things.... More

This is one of my favorite places in Chicago. They have a grocery store with authentic food from South America and a restaurant specializing in Cuban, Colombian and Mexican food. Home cooked quality food at very affordable prices.

I have been to the shop and have loved the variety, but the restaurant is not my favorite. Their tamales are amazing, but the cuban sandwich had one tiny pickle on the entire thing. The service was great, but pick off the menu consciously.
