The area
Neighbourhood: Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.

Enjoyed the River Walk immensely. Great place to see the architecture and enjoy the passing boats. On our trip, we found ourselves there twice. Once for a casual dinner and once at the brewery and cidery to just sit and enjoy.

This is by far one of the highlights of my trip to Chicago....very friendly way to spend some strolling time in a great attmosphere.
Would highly recommend an architecture cruise on the river and you can get your tickets right on the riverwalk.

We must have walked the length of this at different times during our stay.
There’s something for everyone – bars, restaurants, play areas, boating, a museum, trees and plants and of course towering skyscrapers.
Magnificent!

Beautiful river walk. Lots of places to stop and eat and drink. Lots of spots to hang out and read or listen to music or work or study or people watch. Loved it!

A walk along the Chicago River is a wonderful way to appreciate the city's architecture and just take a break from the tourist treadmill. You can have a bite or a drink, stroll along the water, or just sit and watch the boats go by.

The Chicago Riverwalk is a great way to both see the busy river traffic flowing by and avoid all the street traffic lights if you were walking on the streets above. The Riverwalk has numerous cafes and restaurants to visit, particularly on the southern side (where the walk is continuous from the Confluence of the North & South river branches to Lake Michigan) . The Riverwalk is always busy with dog walkers, joggers and us tourists, so there's always something to see.
