The Lookingglass Theatre Company seeks to redefine the limits of theatrical experience and to make theatre exhilarating, inspirational, and accessible to all.Through theatre, which invites, even demands, interaction with its audience, the company's goal is to fire the imagination with love, to celebrate the human capacity to taste and smell, weep and laugh, create and destroy, and wake up where we first fell --- changed, charged and empowered.

This British play has been adapted to suit American audiences. To be honest, this is a universal story of the zero hour contract and how we treat people at work. He performances are 'in yer face', as is the play. The venue is welcoming, intimate and worth a visit. Only thing is there are volunteers here who barely.look at you,... More

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are so glad you appreciated Beyond Caring. In regards to your comments about our volunteers, I wanted to give you some background that may explain their distant behavior. The artistic team wanted the audience to feel as immersed in the show as possible. It was requested that from the moment someone walked... More

This production uses people and puppets in the spirit of War Horse and The Lion King. Two actors carry the production and, with the help of video and various types of puppets, craft an enjoyable evening of theatre. The production is for adults; it is not Theatre for Young Audiences. The venue itself is intimate. If you are looking for... More

My husband and I attended the world premiere of the play, Mr. and Mrs. Pennyworth. The set was innovative, the use of shadow puppets and real puppets was creative. The story line was interesting and the production was brilliant. The two actors were very strong and had great chemistry. We have never been to this theatre and we loved the... More

We saw the show 'Life Sucks' and it was really fun. The stage is small and surrounded on three sides by seats, most on the ground floor. There is a row of seats in the balcony overlooking all the action where we sat and we had a great view.

That was the name of the show we saw at Lookingglass. It didn't suck at all. In fact, it was fabulous!! I've been to most of the theaters in Chicago for one show or another, but had never been to Lookingglass. What a wonderful space. It's small, but well appointed with enough lighting and stage space to give you a... More

Saw "Life Sucks" over the weekend. A modern take on Uncle Vanya. Every character had an important and interesting part. Bit of audience participation as well. I laughed and cried. Everyone can relate to something in this story. Two thumbs WAY up! Really enjoy attending events at Lookingglass.

What an amazing experience we had at the Lookingglass Theater in June. Saw a "Thaddeus and Slocum" and we were thoroughly pulled in. From the direction, the layout of the theater, the set design, the way the audience was a part of the production, the intimacy of the theater, and the unbelievable brilliance of the actors, it was wonderful. I... More

My friend Amber, who works in Chicago theatre, & I attended Lookingglass Theatre's production of THADDEUS AND SLOCUM: A VAUDEVILLE ADVENTURE. This is the world premier. I have attended 4 other productions here and all have been 1st rate. The subject matter of black & white relations was handled in a way that rewards the audience with entertainment & history... We've been subscribers for a couple of years now, so I suppose I'm overdue to write this... we've come here with friends, with my parents, with our kids (ages 10 & 8), and on our own, and we have always enjoyed the work Lookingglass does. This company is massively creative, quirky, talented, professional, and fun. (not all shows are suitable... More
