I ended up here in Dixon by accident and went looking for something to do. The home is easy to find just off the main drag before hitting the river. Just follow the signs. Once there the house next door is were you get the tickets for the tour and a small video about Reagan and his ties to Dixon.... More

Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States, lived in his family home at 816 South Hennepin Avenue in Dixon for only fours from 1920 to 1924. But he later said that Dixon "was the life that has shaped my body and mind for all the years to come." This isn't Lincoln's home in Springfield or Grant's home in... More

To tour this home, and the visitor's center nest door, is to step back in time. I'm a history geek, and love old homes. I also happen to think Ronald Reagan was a fine human being. This house was lovingly and accurately restored (and that was no small feat considering the condition it was in). The original pocket doors, coal furnace... More

Walking into the childhood home of Ronald Reagan was a heartwarming experience. During such a terrible time of turmoil in our country, during this election year, it was comforting to feel connected to a former leader who loved and led our country with strength and dignity. The home underwent quite a renovation in the early 80's, and the care and... More

Located off the beaten path. Visitor center next to the actual boyhood home. He only lived here three years. Neat place to visit. As of this writing tours are $5.

This is a fun little place to visit if you're interested in history. You have to take a one hour guided tour and they start on the half hour. There are a few rooms which are in good shape and the docent tells stories about the President during the tour. There's also an adjacent park and small museum and video... More

A bit of a look into the President's childhood home. A small entrance fee. After watching a brief, interesting video in an adjacent home, visitors enter the boyhood home. We were greeted by a wonderful volunteer, David A., who was a wealth of information, making the tour so enjoyable as we traveled from room to room in this Sears "kit... More

Very lovingly and accurately restored home of one of our greatest presidents. To see and hear about RR's humble beginnings makes him more impressive than ever. The docents were very knowledgeable, friendly and patient with questions. This is a must-see!

I've been to Dixon a few times to visit family, but hadn't visited Ronald Reagan's home. For $5 you watch a short video in the house next door and then a guided tour of the Reagan home. Our guide was very knowledgable and answered all our questions. Lovely home, interesting visit and photo opportunities outside. Took about an hour in... More
