My husband and I stopped here while travelling a few years ago. It is interesting to go around the monument and read the scriptures and stories. It is worthwhile to visit whether or not you are religious, or just want to learn a bit more about the Christian faith. We were actually there in September 2008.

This is a very beautiful cross and we had a perfect day to visit. It was peaceful to visit the cross and the 10 commandment stations. The visitor center had a peaceful chapel. The video in the visitors center about how the cross was made was very interesting. It was worth a few minutes to visit and worship by yourself.

Great experience especially walking and viewing all of the commandments at each position. Standing with my back against the base of the cross and looking straight up was "WOW"

I'm mean, it's a HUGE giant cross, but you've seen one cross, you've seen them all. You can see it from miles away, and I guess that's the point.

This is very pretty. You can see it from quite a distance. Very easy to get to be able to see it up close.

We did not have time to actually stop to see this cross, but it is a beautiful sight to see. It is almost twice the size of the one we have in my hometown of Kerrville, Tx.

We always look forward to seeing this cross in Effingham. It is quite large and nicely illuminated after dark.

To each his/her own, but I couldn't see the sense in erecting this monument. It's right on the highway so you can't possibly miss it.

You can't help but feel a Spiritual Oneness when you are standing near a cross. This particular one is huge. It's known as America's largest cross at 198' tall and 113' wide. It is forged out of steel and can withstand winds up to 145 mph. It' s beauty can be seen driving past it on the highway or standing... More
