I was here in 1994 and it's changed outside significantly. There's a nice park with Julia Grant's statue. The statue is a little unusual as it makes her look as wide as she was tall. A bit of a cartoon rendition but the thought was...More

The tour of the home takes about fifteen minutes--short enough to keep even restless children engaged. Each of the rooms has a lot of stuff to see, and the guides do a good job of pointing things out in a fun way (even if you...More

Great mix of guided and self-guided tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable but the tour was dry

We visited the Grant Home during our visit to Galena, Il. The tour guides do a great job sharing the unique history of the house and interesting facts about President Grant and his family. Most of the furnishings are original to the home.

It is always a delight to visit the Grant house and learn from the excellent docents that work there.

The employees provided a book with pictures and information that was located in the upstairs of the grant house for those who were unable to climb the stairs.

Tours run continuously about every 5 minutes. Staff is very knowledgeable about the life of the General and family history. Exhibits are well displayed and site home sits on is scenic.

Lovely home with many of the original furnishings. The docent provided many details of Grant's time in Galena. Recommend taking the time to see this home.

I'm thinking of taking my 91-year-old mother to Galena for a few days. She is healthy and does get around okay, but I saw the photo with all of the stairs to the Grant home and I don't think she can do all of those stairs. Is there another entrance into the building that you saw?

There are a number of steps from the street below. There is a very small parking lot next to the building next door or you could go s drop off. The stairs inside the house to the second floor are narrow and slightly steep... More

Donations...but may as well be a charge as you could get some stink eye for not throwing anything in the pot.
