A hidden gem!

If you like outdoor art this is the place! Many sculptures to see, a bit quirky but worth the 5 minute drive from town. Lots trails with art, wear walking shoes!

This was such a welcome surprise. We drove down the road and parked the car. Then we just wandered about. There were so many wonderful, imaginative metal sculptures. We loved it.

I'm not too much of a metal sculpture person but this was interesting and right in Galena. Gentleman makes sculptures out of old parts.

We only had a few minutes before a tour and then it started raining so we were not able to spend as much time as we liked. But, it is a very neat spot for anyone who is artistic, creative, or who just wants to see some neat art. This man has made some very creative pieces, something for everyone... More

We were able to meet the artist, John, and visit with him in his studio. It was a beautiful day to take our time and wander about. John encouraged is to take all the photos we wanted. We even had five deer pop out of the woods as we were wandering.

Local artist John Martinson has an eclectic sculpture park just outside of downtown Galena. Sculptures are made out of recycled articles like bicycles, buckets, ladders and more. He has a nice brochure describing each piece. He even provides bug spray as these sculptures are nestled in the woods. A funky place to visit; he has a rusty donation box if... More

Art out of junk and found objects is an acquired taste that I have not acquired yet. That is the kind of sculpture you will find here. It certainly took skill and some creativity to put it together, but I don't find it appealing or all that interesting. However, more power to you if you do. It was challenging to... More

If you appreciate art, creativity, and nature, then don't miss this outstanding display. We had such a fun morning exploring this unique attraction. The best part? It's free! Bring your camera and wear close-toed shoes - there are some cool parts that involve a little walking/hiking. This artist is a creative visionary who should be applauded for not only his... More

Very interesting use of materials in a fun and whimsical way. Kudos to the artist who goes to great length to create his sculptures! Take your time and really study each piece.

Located on West Street between Gear and South, the Sculpture Park is best accessed by vehicle as West and Gear streets are both quite hilly. The "entrance" is easy to miss and if you pass a large red "Wow Mom" sculpture, you've already missed it. Luckily there is a city maintenance lot ~30 yards away for you to turn around... More
