I come here as often as possible. Best scenery in Souther Illinois. Ferne Cliff is a dump compared to here. Lots of trails off the beaten path to know of as well. Always something new to find.

Girlfriend and I explored the garden of the gods with our two dogs. The rock formations are breathtaking and the paths are easy to navigate. I recommend going during the week when it's not that busy.

This is a bit out of the way but it is definitely worth making your way here. There are numerous trails to walk are well as the incredible views of the rock formations. The trails are generally well laid out and not too difficult to...More

We detoured to check this out on the way back to Chicago (including a detour to use the Cave-In-Rock free ferry). Such a great stop! The rock formations are breathtaking...quite unique. Not just the macro views, but seeing patterns in the stone from different ways...More

Some really great views and sites. Even better climbing for those who like to jump and climb on rocks. It is dangerous, but not threatening if you simply aren't stupid. What I mean is that the ledges are there, but you really would have to...More

Loved it! Easy, quick hiking trail. Looking out above Shawnee National Forest has been one of my favorite experiences.

This place is beautiful. Observation trail is a must. It can get very dangerous around the cliffs. We did see one preteen girl fall and gash her head (she ended up being ok). Indian Point trail is very poorly marked and it took us forever...More

I had the same concern during my trip this spring. I decided to stay in Marion even though it was farther away. The Marion hotel prices were less and the trip advisor reviews for most of them were better. As someone... More

It is a paved flagstone path all the way around but there are some stairs and up hills. It is fairly short (like a quarter mile).

I believe it is permitted in some areas just outside of the gardens. I know they have cabins maybe a .25 mile from there. So I would think, yes. I bet there is number you can call to find out for sure.
