Just back from a fellow golf club members birthday weekend in Liverpool, playing West Lancs on Saturday - superb days golfing, what a treat to play on this true links golf course - every hole different with a fab mix of short holes and long holes interspersed - always visual character with either stunning sea views or the railway track... Visited with a group of work colleagues, had a lovely lunch followed by a great round of golf. Staff are fantastic and I look forward to playing here again soon.

Host to many Championships this true links golf course just gets better as the new Course Manager continues to develop the links with subtle additions to the great layout. Host as one of the courses for the Southport Coast Links Championship each August it will always test the golfers as rarely will you get a benign day. Very welcoming club... More

Played here on Thursday 26th in their seniors open. The weather was overcast and a bit damp. Having said that the course was in great condition the greens were true and somewhat fast. We were made very welcome and we all had a very enjoyable day. The food was good. Looking forward to playing again in the future. Hope for... More

Played West Lancs on many occasions and it is a truly fantastic test of golf. Every hole is different and not a bad hole on the course. Lost of elevated tees with great views out to Wales and the Irish Sea. With it being a links course you can play golf all year round and its in great condition. Clubhouse... More

Natural links courses can appear innocuous, even a bit plain. As you play the truth becomes apparent, West Lancs is just this type of course, making the most of prime coast, picking it's way through the jumps hollows and dunes. I arrived with trepidation; early morning, heavy rain driven by a 3 club wind. The cleaner and pro made me... More

West Lancs is a little more difficult to find and to access than several other highly regarded courses in the area but well worth the effort. The course is set on gently rolling land enclosed by sand dunes. The turn on many of the holes is accentuated by the wind so flight control is of great value. Some of the... More

Excellent course - playing really well at the moment but if its windy need to bring your A game. New green keeper has made a real positive difference. Subtle changes to the rough still means a penalty but not a lost ball. Even if the golf isn't going well the views from the course and club house are worth the... More

Less well known than some of its neighbors, Western Lanc is a tough test of golf with great variety of holes, great architecture, horrendous rough and other burdensome hazards. When windy, as we experienced, any ball slightly off line will drift into a lost ball or challenging recovery shot. Not for sissies, this one is very hard. But, very important... More
