For the last 10 years, we've passed this museum on our 6 hour trip to my husband's parents. We finally left early enough to stop on the way back home. Glad we did. Shelley was working today and she was very friendly and helpful. The museum has historical artifacts from Illinois and Abreham Lincoln. There are interactive areas to help... More

I don't like sharing personal information, but this place you can see over and over again and not get bored. Even I found something new each time I went that I missed. It is truly a prairie and history of Illinois Museum. I couldn't recommend this enough. They even have a gift shop with candy. Great place.

Our past Family road trips have been about getting to our destination as quickly as possible. But now I am trying to include stops to enjoy along the way. This way our vacation starts as soon as we leave home. This museum was the perfect stop. The museum provides a history of the geography, nature, people and industry of the... More

This is a wonderful place for adults and children. The museum has well presented exhibits of the natural history of the prairie along with information on pioneers and farming. One section is devoted to A. Lincoln who visited the area often. There are also exhibits about how the prairie was formed and then farmed. The well done exhibits are informative... More

At this small central Illinois museum, you can learn about central Illinois' history, from when the glaciers shaped the landscape through the time Europeans settled here. There's a great compact exhibit about Lincoln's role in Illinois, a hands-on children's section and a yearly changing exhibit. Currently, the focus is on the role of water in the area. If you hurry,... More

This small, local museum is great! Great exhibits on early prairie/settlers/Lincoln/natural history. The downstairs has an amazing area for kids to play with - toys, puzzles, kitchen area - all with a focus on settlers. They also offer great programs throughout the year. And all totally free! Worth a stop here, for sure.

This is a great museum to learn a lot about the history of the Great Prairie. It covers the creation of the geographic points, the people and their influence on the land. The museum also includes a beautiful garden and a one room school house. I have been many times to visit the interactive children's area. They really loved it.
