Description:

The Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio served as Wright's private residence...

The Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio served as Wright's private residence and workplace from 1889 to 1909--the first 20 years of his career. Here Wright developed a new American architecture: the Prairie style. Trained interpreters offer insights into Wright's family life and architectural career. Enjoy guided tours of the museum complex and neighboring historic district seven days a week. Tour details are available on the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust website.

This is the home Wright built at age 22. He and his wife raised 6 children there. The house and studio have been restored to 1909, the last year Wright lived there. The studio is where the prairie style was first envisioned. The tour was very interesting and informative and the tour guide very knowledgeable. Best part of the house... More

What an interesting tour. Loved his studio and the library. Also did a walking tour of other FLW homes in the neighborhood. Time we'll spent.

If you relish Frank Lloyd Wright's work and architecture, you'll love this tour. An hour in the home and work studio gives a look into his early professional life. Homes over 100 years old are in pristine condition. About a dozen FLW designed homes are in walking distance in a gorgeous suburban neighborhood. There are some wonderful cafe's and restaurants... Didn't get inside the house, but walking around it and the neighborhood that contains other homes he built was an experience in itself. It was a gloomy fall afternoon, and the walk made me want to come back for a closer look. He was a great architect, and these homes displayed some of his genius.

We visited during the house walk...great organization and experience. Docents were all great. Will visit again when we can see all of the homes and will prepare better to spend more time.

The volunteer guide was very knowledgeable and made everything very interesting. A view of Wright's work, which has all the marks of today's desirable features but designed over 100 years ago - the open floor plan with built ins. The gift shop has an excellent selection of books, jewelry and gifts. Amazing.

We went on the Wright Plus 150 tour, and it was wonderful. What a thrill to see these homes in person.

We planned our trip from Florida around the 150th birthday of Frank Lloyd Wright Wright Plus Tour. Visiting his home and studio in Oak Park generates a new understanding of his beginnings. The docents are extremely knowlegable concerning his work and life. Although the locals may not respect the man for his personal life, they crtainly revere his work and... More

He is a famed architect whose designs are timeless. His background is neatly told in LOVING FRANK, a book about his relationship with a married woman in Oak Park. Treat yourself to a day in Oak Park and you will not regret it.

Frank Lloyd Wright fans : this is a must see! We toured the house Frank built in the 1890s for his family- at 21 years of age! He tried out new ideas & formed the basis for all the grand architecture to come. Open concept - was a new concept back then. Want to make the most of your space.... More
