Description:

The Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio served as Wright's private residence...

The Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio served as Wright's private residence and workplace from 1889 to 1909--the first 20 years of his career. Here Wright developed a new American architecture: the Prairie style. Trained interpreters offer insights into Wright's family life and architectural career. Enjoy guided tours of the museum complex and neighboring historic district seven days a week. Tour details are available on the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust website.

If you admire or are even curious about the architectural work of Frank Lloyd Wright, you must join the tour of his home and studio in Oak Park. We joined this tour in combination with the self-guided walking tour of the Oak Park neighborhood that boasts of a large number of FLW-designed homes plus Trinity Church which is open to... More

We walked to the Home and Studio as average folk, and walked away as Lloyd Wright Architectural Spotters (my terminology)! The guide was knowledgeable and conveyed enthusiasm. Her story-line related the features in the Home & Studio to the details of his (not-so-great) personal life and his trend-setting design. There is an amount of "Do Not Touch" material - understandable... More

His House and Studio ..in Oak Park, there are quite a few Houses by FLW and I recommend a tour....his vision of architecture, his modernity (heated floors, open spaces) is still relevant today..

This was not only a tour of his home and studio, but also a walking tour of homes in the area designed by Write. I strongly recommend, even if you only have a mild interest in architecture.

Fascinating look into Lloyd-Wrights early work and evolution from Prairie style to modernism. This is a surprising mash up of eclectic styles- japonism, arts and crafts, and cultural appropriation from Welsh farmhouse to ancient Egypt with some Native American murals and some Scandinavian friezework thrown in for good measure. As a Brit, I noticed lots of Rennie Mackintosh inspired furniture and... More

We did this tour on a Friday (Dec. 23rd) afternoon. We had reserved tickets in advance, but would have been okay. There were about 12 people on our tour. Tours a limited in size as some of the spaces in the home/studio are not large. From the exterior, this is not a prairie style home - rather, when he designed... More

The FLW Home and Studio is an excellent tour for kids and adults alike. The docents know so much and are entertaining in their presentation. I would recommend this tour for anyone interested in the Wright Style.

There are some die-hard Lloyd'ers that will spend their entire vacation spending every minute chasing Lloyd factoids, but I'm not one of them. Still, he had a powerful, lasting effect on architecture, challenging many of the "givens" of his day. The guided one-hour tour of his home and studio is an excellent and insightful overview.

I took the combo tour - house, studio and self-guided walking tour. It turned out to be a beautiful day in September - perfect for walking the neighborhood. I started with the self-guided tour. If I were to visit again, I'd probably skip the recorded device and get my own map to do the tour on my own. The recording... More
