The lookout is amazing and well worth the trek up the stairs. You can stop along the way and rest if needed but you won't be mad when you get to the top. Great views and photo opportunities! The entire area has great parks for walking and wandering around.

A beautiful location but a bit pricey. We stayed in one of the cabins - it was quiet and the bed was comfortable. We ate dinner and breakfast in the dining room, the food was ok. We took the Christmas light trolley ride, it was fun seeing the decorations but it did drag on a little with quite a distance... More

OK, I see a number of higher-rated reviews here on TA, but my experience visiting the park was just of a short hike out to the top of the rock overlooking the Rock River. There were a number of kayakers loitering around in a group. It was a nice experience, but hardly anything to get too excited about. If you're... More

There are not too many places to get above things to look around. Here is one place you can do it! Go up early and watch the sunrise - you wont be disappointed. Very few people here at any time of day, but less in the morning! Bring a camera.

We visit this park as part of our annual visit to the three state parks in the area. We will do at least a couple of the hiking trails, Forest Ridge and River Bluff. The River Bluff one (once you drive in make a first right and it is past the playground) is short but has a steep hike up... More

The portion of the park along the river offers a spectacular view of the river. The portion on the opposite side of Rt 2 provides a fun place for a hike & picnic.

It is a little climb up several stairs to the top of Castle Rock however the view at the peak is breathtaking. Especially in the fall.

We spent a beautiful sunny day exploring some of the trails available as well as the climb up stairs to a wonderful view of the rock river and surrounding area. Trails are somewhat marked, can be a bit confusing. Saw people Fishing and relaxing along the river, as well as a few boats. Would recommend to anyone who loves the... More

Castle Rock State Park has trails and hiking areas but the best place at Castle Rock is the view from the rock itself. Climb the flights of stairs to the top of the sandstone outcropping overlooking the Rock River. Especially beautiful in the autumn, one can look north and south along the winding Rock River. Across from the overlook is... More
