We actually drove through Pontiac before anything was open on our Route 66 trip. However, I loved the murals and the little restored coin-operated cars on Main Street. Here is a picture of our Challenger in front of the mural. Keep Route 66 alive! thank...More

Loved this museum! This is a must see when traveling on RT 66 between Chicago and St. Louis. Lots of fascinating historical information about Rt. 66 dating back to 1926, lots of artifacts and fun displays that takes you back in time. There is a...More

Tons of history and route 66 memorabilia from all around Illinois. Had other exhibits upstairs that were also very interesting. We loved the VW bus that was the inspiration for the character in Cars - Very Cool

Great place to see everything that makes the mother road a legend. All the historical places and people who made it great. A great place to learn for your trip down the good old Route 66.

I'm a child of the awesome Route 66-- it still rolls for me, although broken up by slicker expressways. Sleep in a teepee? You bet! Turquoise Chevy's with fins? Oh, yeah! Sorry, got lost in the well-displayed nostalgia of this great little museum. My friend...More

Staff is so friendly. This is an interesting stop and worth it. Give yourself a couple hours to walk through this museum and the adjoining war museum and 1940s exhibits. The war museum is sobering. The collected history of the route 66 museum was very...More
