The visitor center has an enclosed and an open deck that overlooks the locks from a short distance. I saw a barge pass through the lock and the docent gave an excellent overview of the history of navigation on the Mississippi.

I originally went there to purchase my national park pass. But the view of the Lock & Dam was awesome. Bought several books....one on camping cooking for over 100 years and another on parks to visit in the US. Staff was very friendly....answered any questions....More

Ok, this is actually on a military base, so you have to get there by going in from River Drive in Moline. Then you have to get a quick background check, and then you need to travel to the other side of the Island to...More

This area has the most wonderful place to see the eagles this time of year. On the Mississippi River, there is no better place to view the splendor of this bird. People come from all over to experience this.

Little visitor center on top of the lock and dam 15. Right when we were there a tug with 12 barges came into lock. They have a great map on the 1st floor of the center. Very good stuff on birds of the area. nice...More
