I stopped by in 2013 and visited again in May 2017, this time with my wife and toddler son. This is a small garden complex but it's perfectly done and very pleasant; three large ponds and multiple small paths dotted with water features, a tea house, and plays to sit and relax. The koi pond is immaculate and we were... More

The authentic details make this mature Japanese garden feel like you are in Japan. In fact, many structures were actually disassembled in Japan and shipped to them. I suggest reserving a tour guide (or visiting at a public touring time) because a tour guide can help teach you how to shut out the stresses and focus on what makes us... More

This is one of the most beautiful Japanese gardens we have ever visited. Give yourself plenty of time to both explore as well as to sit quietly and just listen. Maybe not the best place for an active child who wants to scream and run, but great for the quiet, introspective type.

Exceptional food from local vege vendors. Overlooking on of the top rated Japanese gardens in the US! Wonderful pace to walk after a very healthy meal!

Mr. Anderson's garden is regularly ranked as number one or two in the nation. It is very authentic. A relaxing oasis of lovely views and well planned interplay of rocks, water, and plants. If you are in/near Rockford this is a must see.

I visited the Anderson Japanese Gardens in Spring of 2015 on the first weekend of the season opener. What a beautiful garden! All the components of Japanese gardens were included in a well maintained, spotlessly clean environment. Like all Japanese gardens the strolling paths are winding & include many artifacts to view. There are plenty of places to sit &... More

The Anderson Japanese gardens are a beautiful way to spend a couple of hours on a nice day. Their breakfast + lunch menu also has many great selections. I had the berry mango salad - delicious, if a bit small. Their Egg Benedict was nicely presented, with the muffin, ham and egg atop breakfast potatoes. Their hash was a delicious... More

Had breakfast at Fresco very good. we were going to go through the Gardens but they did have wheelchairs available. Although the clerk offered to give me a map for accessible paths through the garden. They should at least have them to rent. Parking was a nightmare we needed handicapped parking which was full so had a walk a distance... More

Stopped by after a friend's recommendation. The whole garden has over a mile & a half of trail and so isn't very big by botanical garden standard but it won't matter once you are inside. Its very beautiful and has this soothing affect on you when you are inside. Admission price is low. Cafe closes early (3 PM) and so... More
