We really enjoyed our time at the stae park . Even though it was busy , we were able to find a parking spot in the first lot. The bathrooms are a little dirty but sufficient. The trails were well marked and easy to understand....More

Although this state park has no amenities other than rest rooms and vending machines it has natural beauty and interesting geological features in "the dells". 144 stairs take you down to the rushing water and carved rock of the area. It is possible to reach...More

This park is great, we walked both the upper and lower dells. The park is 5 minutes drive from Starved Rock and so laid back compared to the bigger more crowded park. We came on a busy weekend day around 9am and were able to...More

The trails criss cross the river on boulders, planks, or stepping stones. The river is only a few inches deep. Be prepared to have wet shoes.

Be sure to stop at this park when you go to Starved Rock State Park. It's similar but with more water and bigger falls, less walking to see everything, but there are still a lot of steps. But it is certainly worth the stop there!

I don't think you'll have an issue. My best advice would be to call them 815-667-4211. Lots of things that go in these parks really don't make sense. Again I would call them. This is number for both parks. Good Luck

The State Park is a marked path hiking park. The Upper & Lower Dells are nice to view. The kids will need to be careful cause some of the pathways are narrow and very high on top of some canyons. Will need water proof... More
