A romantic house and gallery set in beautiful riverside gardens. Ancient trees, bubbling brooks and rolling lawns frame this lovely old house. Crafted from a medieval priory, it is full of surprises, with art that intrigues and delights. Come back throughout the year to see different exhibitions in the gallery. Carpets of spring bulbs, a stunning walled rose garden, rich autumn leaves and a colourful winter garden make Mottisfont a feast for the senses all year round. There's space to run, jump and play, and always something for families to do.

We did enjoy our visit but this is not our favourite National Trust House. The grounds are lovely but we found getting in the house a bit confusing. There are two entrances one for the kitchens etc and then we discovered for the rest of...More

The weather was lovely, which in all fairness makes the grounds look so much better than it might do if it was a grey day. The walk along the river is sweet. The house was alright, but not enough information throughout to keep all ages...More

My husband and I visited Mottisfont on a Saturday in May. We really enjoyed walking around the pretty walled garden and along the little river.

Overpriced and overrated. The best part was the nice, sunny weather. We had a family day out, played outdoor games. That was the most joyful part. I can't imagine enjoying the Abby grounds at all in a not so generous weather. No value for the...More

Loved visiting this unique house. Just the right amount of information in each room to capture your interest but not overwhelm you. Friendly well informed staff. Grounds and gardens are lovely.

We are NT members so I cannot comment on value for money. The house and gardens are beautiful. Especially the rose garden in the summer months. There's a nice little shaded area for small children to splash around in (watch out, it can be slippy!)....More

We visited Monttisfont for the gardens, as the guide book mentioned a walled garden and streams. We walked through the winter garden and then headed for the Walled Garden admiring the peace, the birdsong and the flowers. One of the gardens was closed as it...More

First time visitor to this property which is most imposing from outside. While the ineterior is pleasant the real value is in the art galeries on the first and second floors. We saw the largest collection of Heath Robinson's work ever, borrowed from the Heath...More

Mottisfont. Once a Priory then a private house. The outside of the house is very impressive. We have seen better interiors. There is good access in the grounds for wheelchairs. There are also ramps into the house. There are plenty of areas for dog walkers...More
