The historic Genesee Theatre is a 2,400 seat entertainment venue located in Waukegan, Illinois. Located along the northern shore of Lake Michigan between Chicago and Milwaukee, the Genesee Theatre is a hub of activity for Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. Hosting a variety of music, comedy, and dance, the Genesee marks Waukegan as a destination for high-quality entertainment once reserved for major cities. The Genesee was built in 1927 as a vaudeville stage and movie palace before being restored in 2004 to its modern glory as a live entertainment venue boasting one of the largest stages in the Midwest, an acoustically dynamic auditorium, and a beautifully restored grand lobby for intimate and elegant events.

The Genesee Theater is a wonderful theater equivalent to going to a show in Chicago. It's such a great location when you live in the northeast part of Illinois. You don't have the traffic/parking issues like Chicago.

Love the shows at this theater. Good seating. Nice that you can get a drink. Parking is free on the street if you can get a spot. We just go early and grab a bite at a nearby restaurant! Nice little treasure!

The best theater for live performances as well as concerts. It is beautiful and elk kept. For a night or or a date night is a perfect spot worth lots of different shows.

Our experience at Genesee was great. The concerts were great and the sounds are awesome. I am looking forward to more concerts and comedy shows.

Great history behind this theater. Beautiful Marquee...grab a show if you can. Some big names have played the stage. If you find yourself in the Waukegan Area check out to see who is playing there. Apparently there is some legends of haunted history!
