My husband and son are Masons, and I am glad that we have this beautiful cathedral as part of their organization.

Gorgeous cathedral. Tours by older volunteers- so be prepared to move slowly. Ball room under construction so it was disappointing to not see it. Only one door open- froze while trying got locate it! We walked form Library, but there is parking at the cathedral.

This is a beautiful piece of architecture in downtown Indianapolis - within walk of the grassy mall, the war memorial and library. A tour of the outside is great when it is closed, but take the weekday tour, if you can, and learn about free masonry. Amazing.

There are a lot of gorgeous churches in Indianapolis and this is one of them. Beautiful architecture, and stained glass windows.

The Scottish Rite Cathedral is a beautiful facility and can be rented out of special events that can hold up to several hundred people. Walking through the different floors is like taking a tour in time. The walls and ceilings are richly decorated in ornately carved wood and stained glass in all the windows. When I last visited they were... More

My wife and I took a tour of the Scottish Rite Cathedral not long after we moved to Indianapolis. We were amazed by what we saw and what we learned. Of particular note in how the number 33 (Christ's age at the time of his crucifixion) or a multiple of it shows up throughout the architects rural design of the... More

Carson was awesome! He gave great details and historical context. Surprisingly it doesn't cost anything.

My Mensa group meets twice a month in the Double Eagle Cafe for lunch, which has never failed to please me. The quiche is always tasty and the salad bar is a generous good deal. One afternoon we stayed on after lunch to take the free tour of the palatial rooms. They are really something to see and the guide... More

The Scottish Rite Cathedral is the seat of the Masonic Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis. Tours are offered Tuesday through Friday with the exception of certain dates when it is used for the Masonic purposes for which it was erected. The building houses a library, a large auditorium with a pipe organ, a carillon, a ballroom, a banquet room for... More

I think this is one of the most photographed structures in downtown Indy. The design has a lot of character and the materials used is impressive. The interior is classic gentleman's club: wood panel, leather, and cigar room,
