Very nice capitol building - ornate interior. The first portion of the tour is done sitting in rows of chairs in the rotunda listening to the guide. Many school students in our group, so it tended to be more a primer of "how government works" as opposed to the history and architecture I was more interested in. Would probably try... More

We didn't find the Indiana State Capital very impressive. It isn't quite as large or impressive as the capitals in other states. Its also odd that there is so much focus on the civil war and Indiana's participation in the war. I didn't really understand that.

It is one the most important and impressive architectural buildings of Indiana housing office of the Governor, the Supreme Court of Indiana, the Indiana General Assembly, and other state offices. It was completed in 1888 after about an 8-year construction period. The building was moved 5th time to its present location due to the rapid increase of population in the... More

I've seen many state capitals and love how similar, yet how unique each one is. The architecture and craftsmanship is beautiful, most impressive being the stained glass in the rotunda. Wonderful visit.

I have been numerous times and it is a wonder to visit and take a tour of. The art work and history of the place just is amazing. Give yourself time to take one of the tours they offer.

Had a very limited amount of time to visit. Still a beautiful place! Wish we could have toured longer. Worth the visit!

We spent from 9-3 and could have spent more time. The tour lasted about an hour and was very informative. We sat through the House of Representatives session in the gallery while listening to many of our state representatives speak and it was very educational. Lunch in The House cafeteria was reasonable and the menu had good variety.

We toured the Indiana State Capital building with a guide and we enjoyed all of the historical significance contained in that vast building. Strategically locate just two blocks west of the majestic Monument Circle, the state capital building houses the Senate, House of Representatives and other administrative staff. Of course, the current governor and Lt. governor and hundreds of law... More
