This is obviously the premier museum for showcasing Indiana in all phases of its history: geology, paleontology, engineering, manufacturing, inventions, farming, etc, etc, etc

We visited the museum with the singular purpose of seeing a movie at the IMAX theater. As IMAX theaters go, this one is old and outdated with narrow seats and small drink holders. While they do offer digital caption devices for the hearing impaired, the devices do not fit in the drink holders as designed inasmuch as the drink holders... More

I was honored to serve as a chaperone on a 4th grade field trip this week. The exhibits were slightly boring, minimally interactive and staff presence non-existent. One child in my group had to hunt down the one employee that we did see the entire trip, to ask a question about an exhibit item. I am a college graduate and... More

My favorite time to visit is at Christmas. They have miniature displays of the old time Department store winter Windows downtown. The old Ayres train takes children through a winter wonderland. If you want, you can enjoy a meal in the Ayres Tea Room replica. Another wonderful display highlights famous men and women from Indiana. Animals, antiques, artist, and rock... More

visited for an event recently which was very well done. However, the museum exhibits did little to introduce us to the history of this great state. Was left wanting more.

This is a very lovely museum, in a lovely area of Indy, along the Cultural Trail. The canal is behind the museum. The building itself, if very nice - airy, and interesting. (Check out the outside walls.) The fee was reasonable and it would take anywhere from 3-5 hours, give or take, to go through the basic galleries. There are... More

We went to check it out and was just ok , we enjoyed all the displays however it was a Saturday afternoon and very disappointed that the restaurant closed at 230 ! We were all starving and ended up leaving without seeing everything! Seems for the cost to get it , the place itself didn't close until 5 that you... More

Interesting to see a different states museum. Being from Arizona, our state is not as old. Seeing the 200 year history r of Indiana was fascinating!
