We took the Sunday afternoon dinner trip on The Spirit of Jasper for my husband's birthday. From the young lady at the ticket window to the volunteers on the train, all were lovely people and helped make my husband's day special. The depot is also a good photo op.

Wife and I went on a Saturday, and rode in the Monon car where they served you dinner. The other cars were a buffet line. Left at 4:00 and returned at 7:30. we were seated at a table for six and met two other couples, by the end we were fast friends. You can get a table for two, or... More

We spent a nice afternoon riding the train to and from French Lick in October. The real treat was talking to the members of the volunteer staff on the train. We learned a great deal about the history and restoration of the train cars (the club car is the smoothest ride, according to our hosts). Such a nice, leisurely way... More

Train station is redone into a public meeting place and set of tours. The cars are nicely done and grounds beautiful. The trail it connects to runs with the mill and river walk.

We missed the train trip to French Lick, but took the train in French Lick. But the train comductors took us for a tour of the passenger cars in the station, told us about the history of the train, etc. my husband, the train enthusiast, was in "heaven."

My wife and I did the dinner train experience with another couple which we booked 30 days in advance. We were not seated in the dinner car with wooden seats, we were seated in the parlor car with TV trays. We were told because the other dinner car had last minute unexpected issues, we had to ride in the parlor... More

This was a last minute idea for us. My husband and I were travelling with our 2 young daughters and thought it might be fun for them. We all enjoyed it much more than we imagined. The staff went way above the call of duty. When I called for reservations, there were only 2 places left. They called me back... More

Take the train ride to French Lick ... We did this and it was a beautiful experience through the middle of southern Indiana it takes about 1 hour each way. The train cars are comfortable and spacious mixed drinks and beer available for purchase.
