We visited during the "candlelight tour of homes". The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly and took the time to answer questions. I am astounded at how well preserved the doctors office was. A fascinating backstory ! Well worth the visit if you are history buff.

This house consists of four rooms that are packed with history. It was fascinating to see and read about the items in this doctor's office. The tour guide was very knowable.

This teeny tiny building isn't worth the 10 minutes it takes to walk in and out. You won't miss anything by skipping it. Spend your time on Main Street, a winery or the riverfront. If you decide to go take a mask or at least a tissue; the dust is so thick you'll sneeze and cough.

Not bad but not very substantive office treatment room and upstairs bedrooms. Guide was reading cards during entire presentation. About we hat you may expect for $4 per person. Not horrible just a little light

Our Medical Alliance group took a day trip to Madison to visit this historic site, the office of Dr. William D. Hutchings. The building is a trove of fascinating relics from the late 1800s giving a clear look into the practice of medicine of days gone by. A building next door is under renovation to be the welcome center as... More

Dr. Hutching's office and hospital was closed with everything inside it when he died, including pictures his daughter took of the office. It is in the process of being restored to it's original 1800's appearance, as time has done it's damage, but it is still interesting to see now. Most of the doctor's medical notes and instruments are there, including... More

Dr. Hutching's office is an unusual facility in that it captures what the good doctor's office would have looked like while it he was practicing. There are artifacts to help the site seem alive and real, but I haven't seen much new. Do we already know all there is to be known about Dr. Hutchings? Seems unlikely.

Very short tour. Lots of old medical items and instruments. If you are in the medical field, you will enjoy it.

This was a very cool 19th century doctors office. The hospital room was kind of creepy, and the real skeleton in the box was unexpected. Also great tour guide

Small museum which shows a doctor's office and first hospital in Madison. The best part was the guide who had a family connection with the good doctor and obviously loved her job. Takes about 45 minutes to see everything but a good quick stop.Tickets combo for this house and the Sullivan mansion is $5, which is very reasonable.
