We bought some corn meal and the kids enjoyed seeing the grinding meal and water wheel. The staff was helpful with things around the town.

It was nice to see a working grist mill and workers were very nice and friendly. Bought a bag of the freshly ground corn meal.

Metamora does not look to be a thriving town and the mill is no different. Its happiest days seem to be behind it. It has a small souvenir shop with optional donation box and you can see the wheel downstairs.

I've been visiting this grist mill for 35 years or so. When my kids were young it was an exciting place to visit, and the mill wheel ran often. Now it seems tired and needs refurbished. The walkway that crosses over the mill run must have collapsed because it was blocked off with red warning tape. There weren't many visitors... More

Wonderful way to learn about the past. You can even buy some of the cornmeal for cooking. We love taking the kids then making muffins with the meal when we get back home.

quaint. nice to show kids ways of the past. The mill doesnt take long, but it is different than what you normally would see when holiday shopping.

The mill is a small part of the Metamora experience. The train ride and quaint shops make for a fun day. Christmas time is really great.

Metamora is a collection of small shops selling all manner of goods from hand-made fudge (delicious) to farmer's market and flea market items. Being there is a step back in time. A bit off the beaten track but a fun place for a quiet visit.
