For a small zoo there was a lot to see and it was a little less depressing than many of the zoos I have visited. The shocker for me is how accessible some of the dangerous animals are. For instance the tiger cage which is entrance adjacent is so close to the path. If someone wants to put their arm... More

You would think that a hidden away small zoo like this would barely have any animals and be a breeze to get through. Well, its a huge surprise once you're inside because it has way more than you'd expect. Peacocks roam around, there's monkeys, a really awesome white tiger! There's a huge tower toward the back that's both great to... More

It;s an old well-maintained Facility, worth the trip. They are re-working some of the areas but it is still a good afternoon visit and its got the lookout tower built as a WPA Project. Old craftsmanship is visible in many of the site structures

We live in Michigan city and we've been to the zoo a handful of times. It's small enough to not be overwhelming for toddlers and little kids yet offers some pretty cool things for the older kids. There's a goat pen and for 0.25 you can get a handful of food. You can't go in the pen but the goats... More

i don't like zoos....its just me....but they do serve a purpose to educate the public and propagate the species right.....so with that in mind....WPZ has an education center for kids and is in a beautiful area for humans....even if the cages for animals are a bit tight.....monkey island is cool and the views of Lake Michigan from the highest point... This is a decent zoo to visit and not so overwhelming with small children. There haven't been any monkey in the big outdoor area in several years but there are some in the other buildings that are so much fun to watch. My kids have so much fun in with the birds. You can purchase a stick with seeds on... More

My sister and I visited this zoo this spring and we loved it. I can't wait to bring my granddaughter here. I know she will love it.

I was bummed last time I went because they used to have a really cool prairie dog enclosure set up like an ant cage where you could see tunnels and whatnot, and a big monkey enclosure with monkeys running and playing everywhere. Both those enclosures are now empty/shut down. They have a white tiger that follows you back and fourth... More

We visited this zoo on a nice fall Friday afternoon. Not crowded at all, perfect size for our little ones (5 and 2) to walk around. Really like the Grizzly Bear and otter exhibits; parakeets were also pretty active. We ate at the peacock cafe - very reasonably priced. I don't think the big cats have enough space - I... More
