My 89 year old mom and I wanted to do the tour but even with handicapped access, it was a long walk to the front. We entered at 11:40, a tour was under way that started at 11, the next at 1:30. We were told we could do a self guided tour, 15$ with a senior discount for the 2... More

Absolutely stunning representation of 1500's England in 1920's Iowa. The first step through the arched entry is breathtaking. I've never been in a nicer area waiting for the guided tour to begin. Fascinating history of the buildings the architectural pieces came from.

We did a self guided tour and we a little disappointed and not sure if it was worth the 8 dollars we spent. There were not that many rooms to actually look into and most of them we just bedrooms and bathrooms. Also felt a little uneasy with the house being very hot and fire extinguishers everywhere.

It is amazing that tucked away in an unsuspecting neighborhood there is this very ornate mansion with so much history. People live around and don't even know about it. It really is a gem!

Just visited Salisbury House during the Holly & Ivy Christmas tour, and the mansion was decked out for Christmas!. This historic home in the heart of Des Moines, Iowa is a gem tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. The fascinating history and drama of the Weeks family and their climb to wealth is displayed in the astounding collection of art,... More

What a surprise. Not what I was expecting to see in Iowa. So glad it has been maintained. Beautifully decorated for the holidays. The guides throughout the house were very knowledgeable. It was $20 for the tour but included the Wallace House And Drake Alumni House. All decorated for the Holidays. Wonderful way to spend a Sunday.

We attended a wedding at the Salisbury House. The property is very interesting and beautiful. Many rooms to socialize and entertain guests in a quaint, personal setting. Truly a romantic and memorable experience as a wedding guest
