Overview
More
Open to visitors since September 2009, the John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park features artwork by 22 of the world's most celebrated artists. The 4.4 Acre park, located within a major crossroads of the urban grid, creates a pedestrian friendly entranceway to downtown Des Moines. This accessible setting, coupled with the skilled landscape design and caliber of the art, makes it unlike any other sculpture park in the United States. The Pappajohns' contribution of 28 works for the park is the most significant donation of artwork ever made to the Des Moines Art Center.

The sculpture park is a great place to bring family members of any age. Some of the sculpture pieces are interactive, some interesting, and some strange, but all are entertaining

The art is very expensive, beautiful to look at up close. No driving by to just look. Lots and Lots of different pieces. More fun the summer and fall than spring and winter Go look for yourself right down town...

The park is very clean and family friendly. It is was a giant hit for any Pokemon go users. The entire park walkthrough takes about 10-20 mins. Plenty of parking options around the block.

The pieces are large and beautiful and a great way to stretchy your legs. Many of the pieces are open, so you can walk up to them or in them.

We stopped by the Pappajohn Sculpture Park after a family dinner, and we snapped a few family pictures by the sculptures. I am always impressed each time we visit downtown Des Moines over the years because it has changed significantly. There are green spaces, additional...More

Great question! Since the Pappajohn Sculpture Park is technically a city park, dogs are more than welcome.

Great question! The area is well-lit at night including street lights as well as individual spotlights on a number of the sculptures in the park.
