Everyone loves this, well not those afraid of heights. It is the shortest steepest railroad in the country. The view from the top of the elevator is fantastic. Great view of Dubuque's downtown, northend, southend & the Mississippi River. A fun thing to do.

You get a fabulous view of the city and river for a $3 Roy d trip fee. You look out East from a very tall bluff with a wide open view of the whole Eastern skyline. It is a fabulous view of the city and the river. I had some trouble getting up to the top by car. My GPS... More

They gave us directions how to drive up so he would be able to experience the view, too. Very kind and helpful. We hope to do that the... More

This is a unique attraction with historical significance. It'd be best to visit in warm weather. You can ride the elevator down to the neat shops.

(Note: the names "Fenelon Place Elevator", "Fourth Street Elevator", and "Cable Car" all refer to the same Dubuque icon.) Seated all huddled together in a tiny cable car on steel rails waiting to be pulled up the side of the bluff by steel cables guided by wooden rollers on the ground... no onboard operator... a crackly voice on a tinny... This is a must visit if you are in Dubuque. It is an adventure! They are not open all year, so make sure you check the dates before you head there!

Fun experience for all ages. Great price. Then you can overlook 3 state's at once. Will always do this if in the area. Plus fun shopping at bottom of hill.

First time riding this was over 40 years ago as a school field trip. Now experiencing it again with my grandchildren. The first trip going up they were a little nervous but got over that quickly. Cannot beat the price for a little excitement and the best view in Dubuque. Took many pictures going up and down but the best... More
