This is a nice, family run cave with some interesting formations and crystals - it doesn't have big "rooms" but still has enough to see to make the 45 minute tour more then worth doing. The guide was informative and funny, so the time went...More

Our family (two adults, two kids ages 7 and 9) visited Crystal Lake Cave this past Sunday. We arrived at 10:50am and were told that the next tour would depart at 11:15am. FYI, you can only visit the cave via tour, so be prepared to...More

This tour is not too long, and not too short. It's the perfect length for kids. We all enjoyed it. I had no idea Iowa had caves like this! The formations are beautiful!More

As long as you are not afraid of small places and being confined this is a great tour. I did see a bat, so beware of that as well. It is pretty cool to see all the formations, colors, water areas, and history of the...More

This was a very interesting tour. The guide was well informed and personable. They even had jackets for my grandchildren to wear as the cave is 51 degrees year round. A tight fit at times but always plenty of warning to duck if necessary. Even...More

I've been to quite a few caves with this one being average. It was quite wet with a fairly large puddle at the end that was difficult to jump over. Plan on wearing old shoes. There wasn't a lot of large rooms, but some cool...More

This was a beautiful cave to visit and we had a great guide. If you were claustrophobic if might be a problem.

Advertised 1.5 hour tour done in 45 minutes. Inexpensive time killer. Not really a cave. Formations are pretty, but the guide had zero personality.

Hi Roberta, it does get very narrow in a few spots. Very few spots will your boys have to duck. And depending on the level of claustrophobia, you will know within the first 10 minutes. The guide will direct you toward the... More
